Screenshots are all black

I used to use Command-shift-4 or Preview/Grab/Selection to capture screenshots, which worked great - capturing as png and saving to the desktop.

However, now I just get a black coloured square captured with both methods.

Capturing a window is fine, this just happens when it is a selection.

Can anyone help?

I just started having the same issue. It has always worked fine before.
