Yes, I'm off to a bad start. Entering a use rname to register and I blew it already.
Can an admin please change my name to "frigginjoe" ?
Autofill got the best of me.

Thanks for the chuckle...I'd imagine someone will be along to change it soon. You can send a PM to a site admin to draw their attention to things like this.

You have been renamed to frigginjoe, leaving people to wonder what your name used to be as they read this thread! However, whether or not to explain further up to you.

Welcome to MacRumors in either case.

I, for one, applaud you for not simply creating a new user name and leaving the the old one to fester in the lists for all time, unused. Welcome to the forum!

Doctor Q as helpful as always. And yes, I'm really curious what it was originally that there was a desire to change it to frigginjoe. Sounds like some confidence issues or something :p

He never posted under another user name, so it's really pretty unimportant.

It was the same as his current name but with a few extra letters on the end that didn't really appear to mean anything obvious. No big deal.

It was funny. I would type it again if work weren't so busy.
Thanks for the warm welcome, and correcting the name I have no time to re-type, it was humiliating.

Don't feel bad, we all make spilling mistakes. :D

Welcome to MacRumors frigginjoe. :)

owoOWOwWO !

I first logged in as "Arnaud", as I needed to ask a question / post a reply.

Alas, I realised later I was the only person around with a not-so-cool name at all - I mean, how many "Joe", "Mary" and "Peter" around ? :(

Anyway, that means I could have had my username changed ?
... Is there a chance that's still possible with close to 300 posts ?

Mmm, then I'd need to find a cool name, though...

:)

While it is possible, the gods generally like to have a good reason to alter a longer-term member's user name, simply because it can generate some confusion.

If there is some concern over your user name, I'd suggest PM'ing a mod/god (although I think only gods can alter the names) and describing why you want it changed and to what you'd like to change it.

We do not like to make name changes and we discourage them. They make work for us, leave existing posts with quotes and comments that have the wrong names, and some member records have to be updated manually. We make exceptions when people make mistakes during registration because these issues are not relevant.

Not to spill oil on fire and create more work for the powers that be, but have you considered this (very obvious for us Brits).

Link moderately NSFW.

Of course, you may know this and have done it on purpose. :p

Nah, emw/Doctor Q, of course, it all makes sense.

I didn't try to get it changed at the very beginning, but I guess the question stayed in the back of my brain since...

However, now I think about it, changing now would bother me. Some people might start to know me, and changing name would feel like, I don't know, a small betrayal ?

Well, all in all, the system is right the way it is - and I'll have to prove that I'm a cool guy without the über-cool username
