Scripting\Dropbox Issues in Safari

I keep having issues in Safari with Java Script drop down boxes like MacRumors uses for the private messages\quotes drop down. When I hover over it, it normally smoothly drops down revealing PM\quotes\etc, but now it slowly and jerkily takes 5-10 seconds to appear.

Also on sites where you hover to drop down, sometimes safari won't allow it, so I have to click the menu then go to the page and manually select the sub menu.

Anyone having similar issues? Any resolution?

EDIT: added screen shots, when I click to show the drop down, it slowly builds the box on the screen. The first snapshot is 2 seconds, the 2nd is 4 seconds, then the box is fully populated within about 5-7 seconds. Weird!
