I read that the scrollbars in Lion would disappear when not used and look like on iOS. I just installed Lion and I noticed, they don't. They do look more iOS-like but they're always there, and they reserved space at the edges just like before.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I have an older MacBook (2008) if that makes a difference.

Go to System Preferences, and choose "General" and set the "Show Scrollbars" option to "When Scrolling."

This is probably happening because A) Your trackpad is not multitouch. B) You have a USB mouse connected.

I have noticed it seems to be based on your input device. My work iMacs nave Lion now and have scull bars, but are using old Mighty Mouses, my iMac at home had a Magic Mouse and has no scroll bars.

Thanks, it works now! I do not have a multitouch trackpad so I guess that was the problem.

I noticed it still doesn't work in Chrome, why is that?
