Hey guys,

I just updated to iOS 26.2 on my iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max and on both devices, I have very noticeable lag when scrolling through Instagram. It's easily reproducible for me:
  1. Go to your feed
  2. Flick up to scroll --> Slight delay until it starts scrolling (just a fraction of a second but enough to be annoying)
  3. Wait until feed comes to a halt
  4. Flick up to scroll --> Again, delay
  5. Etc.
Never had this issue on any other iOS version. Anyone else also having this problem? Thanks!

Quick update: I have this issue in pretty much every app. I noticed it first in Instagram but I, e.g., also have it when I scroll in the app updates list in the App Store or in Discord. Basically, when I scroll, the screen hangs for a fraction of a second until it starts scrolling.

This is different than swiping across home screen pages, which is buttery smooth.

It's weird that I didn't see a single report of this anywhere here or on Reddit, so I wonder what's going on. I already re-started my iPhone but it didn't help.

Anyone else also having this issue?

No…. could not be better - even so I got only a SE3 and was expecting problems - very happy till now.

The only issue kind of like this I had was with Amazon Prime Video. It was horribly slow throughout. The app update from yesterday fixed it though, so it seems it was not an OS issue, but an app issue.

lagging, stuttering, pausing, slowing, have been Apple OS hallmarks for new versions since forever.
Guess what people will be complaining about 20 years from now?
Yep, "I just installed OS 46 and now my device is lagging, stuttering, pausing and is slower that OS 45".

Thanks for the input. Discord and Instagram released updates but it didn't fix the issue for me. I just tried re-installing Instagram but that didn't help either... I guess I have to wait until iOS 26.3 or 26.2.1 (if it comes out) and hope that it gets fixed then.

….or 27 in spring or 27.01 a few days later or 27.1 after that… a never ending cycle - there is no end and never the right moment.. waiting is time wasted!

I am in a similar situation since my system files has grown to a crazy 12GB when it should be 6-7?… anyway looks like a restore to default and restore from last Backup…. But when? And I quote myself now: now 26.2.. but soon 27… after 27.01 and so on… What to do!?

But my Phone runs brilliantly and I got all the apps I want/need and more than 20GB free left… annoying only the waste which in reality I really do not need to reclaim when everything is alright… Your situation is there different and more easy in a way: you got there a problem which has to be sorted …
