Sometimes when I scroll thru a text file in TextEdit the text makes sudden jumps and jerks, up or down. It doesn't happen all the time, so it's hard to get clues about the cause. It happens with large text files with many line-feeds. I use an Apple magic mouse model A1657 which has capacitative sensor for scrolling, which can be touchy. The jerks may happen when I scroll inside the window using mouse finger gesture, but not if I scroll by means of the scroll bar on the side. I can't post one of those files, because they have confidential info. Any ideas? Is it a MacOS issue or mouse issue?
