Hi guys,

I'm interested in picking up an Apple Watch, but I want to know (and can't find the answer elsewhere): is it possible to scrub through a song in the same manner as on an iPod/phone? I.e. by holding your finger on the time bar and dragging it to the place in the song you desire.

Appreciate any help.

Ah that's a great shame and a dealbreaker for me, annoyingly. I really wanted to be able to justify the purchase haha but now i can't
It is very possible that the whole concept was turned down because of usability and Digital Crown is used for volume control.

I’d argue Apple Watch has much more than manual scribble through music, but everyone has its own dealbreaker.

It does not allow you to FF or RW to a specific point in a song, at least that I'm aware of. It also does not allow you to store gigs of music on the watch.
IMHO it's peculiar that it doesn't. The watch allows very good and seamless control of varying Apple devices that are on the same iCloud account. I think adding the scrub forward or backward feature would be a nice little feature enhancement. One I think will be coming in a future WatchOS release.

Yes, agreed massively. As a music player I think it could be fantastic: the main reason why I wanted it was because I thought its form factor would work awesomely as a music player for the gym, and I was prepared to live with the storage limitations.

Hopefully it'll get changed in a future WatchOS release, as you say.

It is an awesome music player for the gym (or running etc.). Is scrubbing really that important to you?

Yep, it's probably the most important thing for my running.

I'm guessing they don't extend the storage because it makes the iPod rather redundant.

The iPod is redundant (for most people) anyway because they have their music on their iPhone (or just stream). With 8 GB for music storage, you can absolutely put so much music on the Watch that it will last longer than any run/workout you‘ll ever do, but it‘s not like an iPod/iPhone where you can have all your music and pick and choose. And scrub.

For me, I don't use an iPhone in the gym because I don't want to use such an expensive device in an environment where it will likely get damaged. My iPod works well, but yeh, always looking for something smaller etc.

I guess i'll have to wait *shrug
