SD card disk image persists

The disk image of a camera's SD card appears after restart, even though the card has been removed from the computer and the disk image ejected.

(Mac mini, mid-2010, Mountain Lion, 10.8.5, 8 GB RAM)

The files in the disk image are editable. The disk image is ejectable.

Any thoughts on what's causing this.

I checked System Prefs and there's nothing in log in items.
