What I want to know is, what is the advantage of a SD card over a USB flash drive/stick. Especially since not everyone has an SD card reader, yet USB is everywhere, what advantage does SD card storage give you.

Good question! I was thinking SD card might be better because it's more portable and isnt sticking out so far out of the notebook.

SD cards won't stick out off the side of your laptop if you're mobile.

Does anyone know whether the SD card slot on the 13" model is SDHC or SDXC? - hoping the latter for storage purposes....

Acyually, they will, and more so than small USB memory sticks. Maybe you haven't seen the tiny ones that are quite popular now, but I'd say these are more handy than an SD card:

SD cards don't fit flush into the slot? I might have been wrong then...

The real question is can you erase the Snow Leopard SD Card that comes with it? I'm sure you can't but that would make it a lot more useful.

That's a USB card, only 8GB (or a little more), sticks out even more, and is flat so it only has support from one side of the USB slot. Not really useful to use as a storage device.

I don't own an Air (old or new version), but on Macbook Pro it looks something like this with an SD card in the SD slot. Is the MBA port "deeper" so that it fits almost the entire card?

Never understood why Apple don't make these SD slots that allow flush-fitting and spring ejection.....you know like, they have in $200 digital cameras.
