Not sure if this should be in the OS section or here.

I have been having issues with card readers and not sure what else to try or troubleshoot.

USB card readers work on my 2017 MBP (10.14.4) with a USB adapter or with a USB C reader I have. These are strictly card readers. For some reason, I cannot get any USB C multi adapter that has card readers built in to work. They are made by Satechi and Mokin. I tried numerous units and also tried restarting, resetting SMC, formatting the card numerous times, etc, but for some reason, the cards are not recognized.

I cannot find an answer as to why this might be happening. I would rather carry the multi adapter than a bunch of adapters.

a. The USB card readers you have... work.
b. The USB card readers in multi adapters... DO NOT work.

Solution:
Use... what works.

Use... what works.

All good and dandy, but I paid good money for an adapter that I use everyday that is not fully functioning. Plus the reader specific adapters are easy to lose and can become costly.

I am hoping to find out if this is an issue others are having and how they may have corrected the issue.

Thank you,
Hank
