Finally a fully specced 2011 15" MBP delivered. This machine is so very quick, absolutely rapid, faster than my 2005 water cooled home build.

All by it, enough of the hype -

This evening, when inserting a SD card I saw one hell of a spark/flash come from inside the 'flash' port. Has anyone else had this problem? Could any ardent users comment on the damage that such a spark could cause. Earthing issue most likely, but how common is it?

And yes, just to reiterate for those who are as shocked as I was... my SD card slot 'sparked', yes electrical arcing, when I inserted a SD card!

Any ideas....:confused::apple:

Obviously should not do that. Can you replicate the problem? Does your MBP still function normally? I would take it in to the nearest Apple store and explain your situation to one of them geniuses.

Pins 1 and 2 on the SD card have marks from the electrical arcing!

I was unable to replicate the flash with 10 more inserts and the SD slot and MacBook is working well.

Having searched google and bing, I was 'hoping' that someone might have some idea as to what happened.
