I plan to put an SSD (Crucial BX100) in replacement of my optical drive, keeping my original HD in it's place. I've read that you should un check "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" for SSD's so that it can perform it's Active Garbage Collection or TRIM support during idle.

Do i need to sacrifice this option for my original HD, in order for the SSD to do what it needs?

I left mine checked with no noticeable ill effects, been running that way since the swap a year or two ago.

Thanks for the feedback

Mine is SSD in the Optibay too. Left the setting as standard with no problems.

Thanks. I see in your signature, that we maybe running the same setup but instead i am keeping the original HD (750gb 5400rpm). how's the setup running for you? I assume your HD is for media, do you do any film editing at all, or SFX for video?
