I recently used a Canon 60D with a 16 GB Extreme Pro SanDisk SDHC to record some footage for a film I'm making. Unfortunately, the card seems to be corrupted, and I cannot recover the footage without first erasing it via Disk Utility.

I created a new format (MS-DOS FAT) and checked the Don't Erase Data, so I could recover the files later. However the program is currently stuck on "Partitioning. Estimated time: 7 hours". It increases in time every now and then, and the progress bar has not made any headway since I pressed erase.

I am worried now that if I quit the program, that my files will become even more corrupted, or that I won't be able to recover them at all. I am not sure if the length of time it takes to erase is normal, so any advice you could give would be helpful.

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue with my 32GB SDHC card.
Format time went to 11hrs, I finally disabled, tried on W7 similar operation - didn't work. Now I'm back on Mac trying to format already for couple hours.

Did the process on your machine finish finally?
Was your card repaired?
