It's been a while since I had an Apple Watch - I had an original series 1 watch when they first came out, but rarely used it and as I'm not particularly mindful of my wearables when doing activities, it ended up scratched to bits anyway. I am however, looking to return to the Apple Watch, as I want a bit more functionality out of my daily wearable (currently a Garmin Vivoactive 5).

So after yesterday's announcement, I checked the price of the new SE3 and also on Apple's own certified refurbished store at the series 10. There's around £30 difference in price between the two (series 10 being the higher price), so wondering which is considered the better buy? I would not be using it for any activities (as I have a Fenix for that - I wouldn't change to an AWU unless battery life was on parity with the latest Fenix) so it's really down to day to day usage - notifications, messages, health stats, and Apple Pay, amongst other common use cases.

Is anyone else deciding between these two options, and if so, what are you main deciding factors?

I was having similar thoughts as I'm on an S5. I gain a discount due to family member working at apple, but my rough calculations were:

S11 - Around £300
44mm SE3 - Around £200
Refurb S10 - Around £220

So I'm going to pull the trigger on a refurb S10, I feel like it's the best value proposition. I just don't see nearly 30% increase as worthwhile for the S11 update (I appreciate I'm comparing brand new to Apple refurb).

There’s a huge difference in features and battery life between S10 and SE3. You’re in UK so you get the full SpO2 readings. Definitely worth it get S10.

Get the S10.
