The glass on the front of my white SE looks very different than the glass panels on the back. The front is kind of milky off white, with the edges casting shadows giving it a 3D look. The panels on the back seem brighter white and opaquely solid, no depth or edge shadows -- is it even glass?

I've never had a white iPhone before, but is this typical? Did the 5s look like this too? Or did they change something about the SE glass?

Since the iPhone 5, the back glass of the white iPhones have been ceramic glass, while the front is just regular strengthened glass. The black iPhone 5 series has used pigmented glass.

Ah, that makes sense. The black doesn't show this transparency as much as the white on the front.
