seagate 1tb slow transfer

Hi.
I have a seagate 1tb portable hd which has been working fine for six months, but has decided to now play up.
I am trying to get files off it back onto my imac desktop but it either doesn't work or says it will take over a day to transfer only 10g.
When i verify it in disk utility it says it's ok??
It acts the same over the other 2 macs in my house.
Any help would be appreciated.

While the diagnostics appear to give a clean bill of health if its failing to copy your items back, the odds are pretty high that something is failing. If you have an empty enclosure (or get one cheaply) then pull the drive and put into that.

I'd also work at pulling as much data off the drive ASAP, incase it does give up the ghost.
