Title says it all. It is both on eBay and mwave.com. The eBay price is cheaper at $145.99 with Free Shipping. I'll be ordering up 2 and running them in RAID 0. :)

isn't that expensive?

You can get an internal 1TB for under $100 and external 1TB for under $150

Unless I'm missing what makes this one special

Any idea about power consumption and heat?

power consumption is slightly higher at peak, but has had no discernible effect on my battery life.

as for heat, it may just be the diode, but mine reports a good 5ºC lower than the hitachi that came with my MBP...

There's an entire thread on the wait for this drive and questions about its performance. Search for momentus 500gb. Newegg also has it.

Can't wait to get it.

:D

Hasn't this drive been out for like, ages?

Is there any indication that a larger drive, like a 640gig drive coming out anytime soon?

Man, I have the G-Force version of this drive (ST9500420ASG) in back order for several months now. Is that one out, too? It's about time...

:(

That sucks man. I just ordered mine from PCConnection.com today. Them and Newegg are the only authorized dealers with it in stock right now, but PCConnection is the only one that has the one with the G-force protection.

Man, that thing's got to run hot.

I mean... I have a 5400 RPM 500GB in mine, and it's hot... I can't imagine what stepping it up to 7200 RPM would do.

Many Mac notebooks already ship with 7200 rpm drives. I have a stock 150 GB 7200 rpm drive in my MBP right now and it doesn't run any hotter than most other notebooks I've used.
