I have a 500GB Seagate Freeagent drive that I have been storing my media on. Then one day the power went out in my house and when I try to access the drive again it says that the "disk drive inserted was not readable by your computer."
So I go to disk utility and the only options I have are Erase, Partition, RAID, and Restore. The only option that I've tried so far has been to erase the HD and reformat it, but when I do the partitioning takes hours (10+). The bar that gives you an estimate of how much time it's going to take doesn't move in that whole time span.
I don't have that kind of time to wait for it to keep doing it's thing so I go to quit and it says "operation not finished and quitting can make the disk non-operational." I quit anyway.
Does this mean that I have "bricked" my HD and it doesn't work anymore? Do I just have to wait it out for it to do it's thing? Is it a problem with mounting? Any help/advice is good. Thanks
