I need an external drive for a film class i am taking and my professor said that Seagate makes good drives. But when i was at the store i saw that some are only PC. Does anyone know if i can use the Seagate FreeAgent XTreme external drive with a mac?

thanks,
Ted

You can use it but you won't be able to use the high speed Firewire 800 connection with that HDD.

I recommend Western Digital My Book Studio. This has a 4 interfaces FW 400/800/USB/e-sata.

The largest HDD you can buy is 2tb for about $220. Don't worry about the HDD for mac. They can work on either one as long as you format the hdd.

Seagate makes good HDD and if you can get a good deal with FW800 great. Otherwise they tend to charge more $$$ just because it's for mac
