Hey all,

I was wondering how using the Seagate Hybrid HD would effect battery life in the MBP 13.3in?

I'm thinking of purchasing one!

Anyone got anything to say?

I read about something: when the spinning disk is in idle mode, there might be some delay depending on what you're doing since it has to re-spin again.

Can anyone confirm this?

i'm extremely tempted to grab one as well.. especially at the $150 pricetag

Seems like the performance gains are worth it and in all the tests it seemed to place in between an SSD and a 7200RPM.

Faster than the 7200 and a Velociraptor and slower than an SSD. I can live with that :D

Some kid around here bought one in the purchase thread. I wonder how it knows to use the SSD part of the drive to laugh apps. It's interesting and something I think may pick up myself just to see how it really works.

i think it tracks the sectors on the disk being asked for most and keeps them in the SSD portion.

You shouldn't move a drive which is operating.

Well isn't the whole point of a laptop to be mobile? I don't run marathons while using my laptop, but I sure as heck don't power it off everytime I move it somewhere.
