Heaven or Hell
SO, i finally want to upgrade my MacBook Pro Unibody 15"
to a 500GB 7200 RPM Drive.

I have heard all sorts of weird things about this drive..

Which is the correct model to get ?
And are they reliable drives ?

thanks!!

I have the Seagate 500GB 7200RPM and it works like a champ. A tiny little bit more vibration than my 200GB but worth it for over twice the storage!!!

I preferred the Scorpio Blue, but it is personal preference
You will find some who love the Seagate and some who curse it
Same with the WD drives

I've never heard good words about seagates....

You don't look very hard. Just scroll up.

I have one and it (knocks on wood) works flawlessly, little noise and no vibration. I've never been disappointed with a seagate drive, they've always been great products.

I've never had a bad experience with Seagate drives either. Work pretty damn well in my opinion.

well it works fine for me, i have momentos ST9500420AS. Sometimes you will feel like the HDD is swallowing and freeze for a second but it only happens with OSX, im using windows via bootcamp and no problem. The HDD is perfect and if there is uncompatibility its from OSX.

I saw all comments but it's actually what MacDawg said. What i said comes from the majority of people i've met and use seagate.

Don't they make 2 models of the Momentus ?
One with Shake Prevention and one without ?

Which one should i get and what's the name of it ?

This is Confusing! 50% of the people say it's a Great Harddrive
and the other half say it's Crap!

What is going on here?

I have one and though it does vibrate more than the last drive I have to try really hard to feel it.

I'm overall happy with mine. Very nice having half a terabyte in your lappy.

I've bought 2 of them. I put one in my ex-girlfriends MB and it works with no problems, I haven't upgraded my laptop yet (waiting for snow leopard) but I thought I would say the second one looks nice :)

When you guys installed this hard drive did you have to do anything to the jumper clip things on the hard drive?

Thanks Philflow.

I guess i'll settle for the WD 320GB.
Cause i would rather have the fast 7200RPM
than just an extra 100 GB.
