Hey there,

I have a Seagate Momentus xt SSHD (http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Momentus-7200RPM-Hybrid-ST750LX003/dp/B00691WMJG) from a friend who upgraded to an SSD. I want to upgrade the 5400 rpm hdd in my 2012 13" MacBook pro with this one. I was wondering if anybody knows about the functionality of the sudden motion sensor for non-Hitachi based Apple hard drives. Will the motion sensor still work to park the head on this Seagate drive?

The sudden motion sensor is not Hitachi specific. It should work for any rational drive. As the Seagate is a rotational drive with a small SSD built in your make will treat it as a regular rotational drive.

I had the first gen Seagate SSHD and the MacBook treated it as a regular HD.

Thank you!
