I have a Seagate Backup Plus and Thunderbolt adapter (mobile version). I love it. The drive docks with my ATD at home and I use the USB3 adapter when I take the drive with me on the road. I am thinking of getting a desktop model (3TB) for Time Machine Backups. I noticed they came out with a new design. These don't appear to be compatible with the desktop Thunderbolt Adapter.
USB3 is great but my display only has USB2 and I'd like to permanently dock the drive rather than plugging it into my MacBook Pro. I suppose I'll just buy an older model. I can probably find one for a good price now. Does anyone know why Seagate is going away from the adapters? I always thought that was a cool feature of their Backup Plus series.
