Is there any reason to favor one over the other? The only significant difference I can see is that Seagate offers a five year warranty vs. WD offering only a one year.....

Aside from that, they appear to be well-nigh identical, save the enclosures.

I'm being drawn to the Seagate for the longer warranty--any reason to think otherwise?

TIA!

Some of the WD drives have 3 year warranty!

All my Hdd are WD (external) they have all been good me :) knock on wood. haha

I believe Seagate has a 5 year warranty...I currently have an external WD and an internal Seagate. Both work well.
