I have read many posts about pieces of what I would love to see somebody post with a sticky setting. I want to keep my Google mail, contacts, and calendar, but I want to seamlessly be able to manage and view these on my iMac, iPhone, and iPad. I have struggled with this for about 6 months and every time I think I have it, some new wrinkle crops up.

Right now I am using an Exchange setting on my iPhone. This seems to give me almost everything I am looking for, except I cannot control the colors of the calendars (they are different on different devices ... confusing!!) and I get about 4 different contact groups to select from. What are these??

Finally, it would really be good if somebody could post up an explanation for the rest of us of just how Apple devices are handling these different settings, and what the differences are between the various mail setups (Gmail, Exchange, iCloud, etc.).

I know this is a duplicate post in the sense that a lot of this info is laying around on the forum, but every time I read one post and use that setup, I find some problem and wind up reading someone else's solution. My intuition tells me that there is one set up settings that should apply to all 3 devices to make this work.
