search engine bug...comes up empty

i placed a search engine on the site in the header
www.iei-energy.com

but the search comes up empty when i try it

however when i place the complete site within a directory in the very same site, it works and finds the files in the root directory....

and i have no idea where to even start looking
the relevant files would be the class.search.php
