Search Engine Optimization Help and Advice Needed

Hey Guys, I'm looking for a reasonably priced way to optimize my client's site on google so that it pops up higher. I've tried Adoozle and the gang and I often wonder if they do any work at all. Can you guys give me the 411 on this segment of the market?

If you are relying on SEO the site is probably crap. Tell your client to offer better content.

Have you tried Matt Gemmell's advice? SEO seems to frequently be the haunt of some pretty sleazy practices.
