I've noticed that I can no longer find a file or a folder in Finder in macOS Sonoma 14.0 if I use a search query similar to this:

<name> kind: <kind>

For example, if I have a folder named summer

and I type in a search query in Finder's search field:

summer kind: folder

I get no hits.

However, if I type in a search query in Finder as follows:

name: summer kind: folder

Then, the folder summer shows up as a search result.

Same is true for files that have a specific word in the file name but not in the file content. Assuming there is an Excel file in my file system with the name winter but the word winter is not part of the excel file's content, then, if I type in the Finder's search field:

winter kind: excel

I get no hits. However, if I type in:

name: winter kind: excel

then the Excel file with the name winter shows up in the search.

In the past, typing a query like this:

winter kind: excel

would bring among the search results any Excel file that has the word winter in its name or its content. And if I wanted to only search through the file names but not through the content of the files, I would then type in a search query as follows:

name: winter kind: excel

This query used to restrict the search to file names only (and not search through the content of each file).

Has anyone else noticed this difference in how search works in macOS Finder after upgrading from Ventura to Sonoma?

Thank you.
