Is it possible to search for a certain file format in spotlight, to show all the files of that format? I've tried doing this for a while now, as I want to create a smart folder containing all my .NEF images that are stored on my mac.
Any idea how?
Thanks in advance.

Search for the file extension? ".nef"

Virtually all files should now have a file extension, even if they may be hidden in the Finder.

If you want to look for Word documents that contain the word cheese, then type this into Spotlight:

cheese ".doc

Yes, the single quote is correct. This will only return .doc files in the results (although it also does return any PDF files created from that Word file).

If you type the above without the ", it will return a much wider based search.
