When I "roll back" to the search function, it is now only searching my iPad, not going out to the web.

Did I somehow change it?

I used to use that to start my web browsing.
Safari can still be started. Still functions correctly. Just not accessed by the "Search" .
Thank you.

Maybe I'm not being clear...
Using Safari, it used Google just fine.

I'm talking about when you advance the iPad main screen to the left, and you get the "search" window. It used to say "Search google". You'd type something, it would open Safari and search.

Now, it says, "Search iPad", and only search whats on your iPad.

Is that more clear?

Yeah mine works fine but I don't why yours has changed?

Actually I take that back I just looked in that setting tab and it is not a choice.
With that said I don't know why it is not working for you.
I just tested it and it still shows me the web option.

Yeah.... I see the choices for it to search, but not a way to make it search the web.

ARGH!!!

Strange as mine still has the option to search the web and Wikipedia.

If I type the word "Sony". And hit "Search". It does nothing.

Is this what you see?

Had a look at the Apple Support Communities. Give this a try in Settings/General/Spotlight and uncheck Mail option. Looks like there may be an OS glitch. You can still search for mail items within the Mail App. Worth a try?

No change, unchecking "mail".

No I also have the Search Web and Wikipedia options and the search field.

At least you can see what I'm talking about.

Try a reboot after changing the settings.

THAT did it!!! :)
Whether it was unchecking "Mail", or simply the reboot, but it now works.
Thank you so much.

Yes, but you are not the only one having this issue. There are many more of you out there. There may be an App you have installed that has interfered with spotlight but give the unchecked mail option a try 1st, then a reboot before you start eliminating Apps.

When I type something, among other options I get: Search Web, and Search Wikipedia. Do you not get either of these?

If not what OS are you on? I'm on 5.0.1

I'm on the latest OS 5.1 and get these options above too once I start typing something.

Initially all I see is search iPad.

Maybe they'll sort it out in the next update. Don't hold your breath though but this seems your next best option until then. Have fun "Honey" until then - lol.
