I've been having this really weird issue with Outlook 365 for quite some time now. At least three months, maybe even six or more, I can't really tell. I think it stopped working when I switched from local client-based rules to Office365-based rules. Outlook 365 is up-to-date (currently running 16.38), and so is macOS (running 10.15.5).

My Outlook 365 is connected to Office 365. I have a rule set up that sorts all incoming mails from wiki-notification@domain.com into a specific folder. I get between 250-400 of those notifications per day, so naturally I don't want them to clutter in my inbox. These notifications all have one thing in common: they are email notifications sent from a Redmine server containing a ticket# in their email subject, and I have to go through these each day to see if a) I need to do something, b) I need to reassign the issue, c) I need to intervene, or d) I need to simply be aware of the issue without doing anything at this very moment. Once I am done with a ticket I want to delete all additional email notifications for this particular ticket. The way I used to do it is to search for the ticket number and simply delete all emails. My workflow thus looks like this:

1) see email notification for ticket #12345
2) decide whether I need to take care, reassign, intervene, or acknowledge
3) search for 12345 in Outlook in the folder all notifications are moved to and delete all mails

And this is exactly where my workflow falls apart: Outlook will only list those emails in the search result that I have already read but not the unread ones. As soon as I read another notification for ticket #12345 it will immediately appear in the search results. Another problem that is probably very closely related to this is that I have another rule that categorizes notifications for tickets assigned to me and a smart search folder to list all those, and this search will also only list the emails I have already read but not the unread ones. It's almost as if Spotlight will only index the INBOX as well as read messages but not those that have been sorted into folders but have not been read yet.

Any ideas?

One thing I forgot to add: I've tried rebuilding the spotlight index for Outlook numerous times already to no avail.

I've just done a search in Outlook (when a couple of unread emails had come in) and searched all mailboxes, then in advanced, "from" - name of email that had just come in and it was found but changed from unread to read after a couple of seconds (it had been "selected" so expected and no issues!)
Not much help but it works just fine here.... is it worth trying to re-sync the mailbox to see if that helps?

Outlook 16.45, MacBook Pro 13 M1, Big Sur 11.1: search stopped working after using Migration Assistant from another Mac. Continued to work on the old MacBook, but not the new M1.

I don't know which step fixed my search, or if it was the combination.

Step 1
Did the Spotlight add to Privacy again, remove from Privacy (I've done previously with no luck). Note, not the whole group container, just the Profiles:
~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles.

Step2:
Control/Right click the Outlook App. Select Contents/Outlook/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Outlook Spotlight Importer.mdimporter

Attempt to launch Microsoft Outlook Spotlight Importer.mdimporter, and select Outlook as the app to open it. The Outlook app launches.

Let the mdimporter process run.

Step 3:
Try Searching again. My search started working.

Outlook is running on all the Mac in my signature. I've experienced that Search stopped working, went through the Privacy procedure, which usually worked. In December I was getting crazy until I learned, that 16.56 and 12.3 didn't talk. After that everything worked again.

But now I have two extra Macs - one running Big Sur on a supported MacBook Air 6,1, the other running Monterey on an unsupported MacBook Pro 10,2. None of them can get search results inside the app. I see all the messages I'm looking for via Finder search, but that is not what I want, of course. I've deleted Outlook and the data folder, I've tried Outlook from the App Store and Office.com. I'm using and Exchange account, but have tried with an IMAP account as well.

Any further ideas???
