Search on iTunes/iBooks

I'm not sure if this is a known problem but when I try to search on iTunes or iBooks it automatically opens with the last thing I searched for (on iOS 6) and I've tried tapping search or pulling the screen down (like spotlight) to enter a new search and nothing works.

Am I missing something or is this a known bug?

Is everyone else's working correctly? Trying to figure out if I need to restore.

I had the same issue. What I did was close the app, open the app switcher and fully close the app. I then turned the phone off then turned it back on and the search bar was back. For some reason it was hidden. What I do now is I clear the search before closing the app.
