Situation:
• SMB share
• Windows users
• Some Mac users
Problem:
Mac users can’t search for parts of file names—they have to type the entire file name to get results.
Example:
File name: "0000042667.jpg"
Searching for "42667" shows no results.
Searching for "0000042667" finds the correct file.
The SMB share is hosted in a data center on a Windows Terminal Server that we rent.
Is there something I can ask the provider to install or enable to make it work properly?
(I vaguely remember this being a known issue between Windows file servers and macOS a few years ago.)
Alternatively, is there a macOS extension or workaround that solves this?
🤔
