iPad Search on YouTube on the iPad WITHOUT using the app?

How do I search on YouTube on the iPad WITHOUT using the app because I want to copy links so I need the webpage. But there’s no search option on the YouTube website on the iPad and no link copy option in the YouTube app on the iPad. Sooooo...I give up!

I have the search option without using the app. I use Safari desktop mode. Makes it easy to cut and paste video links into other applications.

Companies are getting bolder at crippling their sites when they detect a mobile user agent, to encourage you to download their apps, which can then serve you ads and collect data in the background.

Yelp is the worst offender I've seen. It basically won't display more than a couple reviews when serving mobile clients, and "suggests" you download the app for the "full experience."

Not sure why OP can’t use the YouTube app though. For me I can search and then click the 3 dot button for a video on the results list , pick Share and then Copy Link. Or when watching a video just use the share button and copy the link. Is this not working for everyone else? Perhaps a premium subscriber exclusive?

Looks like a display bug.

If you don't see the YT search field then you can search YouTube indirectly by adding " site:www.youtube.com" to your google search.

It’s the opposite on Safari iPadOS 14. Tapping the Aa icon and selecting “Request Mobile Site” brings up the magnifying glass on the You Tube site which enables search. But tapping the Aa icon and selecting “Request Desktop Website”removes the magnifying glass and does not provide a search option on the You Tube site.

Yes, I gave up. So I asked you guys for help. Help was duly received. @joeblow7777 hinted the solution, to whom I thank. But iPadOS 14 Safari does the opposite of Chrome when tapping the Aa icon with regard to YouTube search. Apple is once again counterintuitively counterintuitive.

Thing is, it probably isn’t broken t all. The issue that OP has isn’t necessarily reproducible by others. I’m starting to wonder if it’s something else like content blocker, proxy, network issue or some other restriction going on that prevents OP from seeing the standard youtube page like everyone else does in Safari.

OP hasn’t addressed the alternative of using the youtube app and just using the share feature to get a link that can be copied. Not sure why that function doesn’t work for them as well.

Or trying a different browser until his Safari issue is fixed.
