HELP! My wife's MBAir has got the dreaded (Safari) Search Pulse VIRUS??

How does one get rid of it please other than purchasing some expensive anti-virus orftware.

Sorry iff this is in the wrong place.........

  1. Go to Safari > Preferences
  2. Click on Extensions
  3. Select the Extension that you want to delete
  4. Click Uninstall
Also remove the following (presuming they exist):
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.logicalsearch.plist
~/Library/LaunchAgents/pronto.notification.plist
~/Library/LaunchAgents/pronto.update.plist
~/Library/Safari/Extensions/Searchpulse.safariextz
then log out and log in again.

The basic point of that Apple discussions article was to run Malwarebytes. Did you try that? I’ve never found Malwarebytes to fail in rooting out stuff such as you describe. And it’s dead simple to download and run, free if you only want to run it when you have a problem.

Yes we have installed and run Malwarebytes and it made no difference. As I understand it, this Pulse thing is not a virus, it is an extension of Safari?
As a matter of interest, there is noting in the extension folder to delete!
Any way, It's a pain and won';t go away. I'm going to chat with Apple later on.....

Check your system preferences if there is a created profile.
If you can't remember creating one, delete it. Open profiles and delete what is inside.
