Hey guys,

I am looking for an ultrawide monitor that is perfectly compatible with a macbook pro 2016.

I really like the U3818DW. It was the best one that I could find until I read it is not perfectly compatible with a mac (why the hell does Dell do that??).

SO the issue here is that the usb 3.0 reach only 2.0 speed + that you cannot use brightness and volume control on the mac. There is discussion between a Dell worker and a customer in a forum from Dell in which Dell says that this monitor is sold as only compatible with Windows.

I wonder: Can anybody here recommend another similar display that is just as good and not much more expensive?

I heard that you cannot use volume control and brightness here either in one of the youtube videos. I also think the Dell is younger and even a tiny bit cheaper. But thank you for the suggestion.

in this video they compare the Dell and the LG head to head

but I guess the features you are looking for only exist on the LG Ultrafine 5k which mas made specifically for the macbook pro and is not an ultra-wide

but the LG 38UC99 definitely works great with the new MBPs
