Yet another Firefox question. This time it isn't a real issue; I'm just curious. As most of you probably know, when you install FF, the contents contain a folder:
firefox.app/contents/macos/searchplugins
Which contains all the plugins you put in for the search bar. What I've been doing when I upgrade FF (I upgraded manually to 1.0.1 just tonight, since it still isn't in the auto update feature in FF prefs, at least for me), is copying the searchplugins folder to the desktop, installing the new FF, and then dragging it back into the package. I do this because when I install the new copy of FF, the searchplugins folder goes back to its initial contents.
Is this the "right" process, or is there an easier way? I wonder why they manage this through the package instead of the user profile, in which case it would be right there when I restarted, like my themes.
I seem to remember, though, having upgraded during the PR phase and having to re-acquire all my search plug-ins. So I'm not insane, right? That is, had I not copied my searchplugins folder, would I have lost them?
