My dad was on his way home from work when he heard on the radio that Sears Tower in Downtown Chicago is no longer going to be called "Sears Tower." It is now going to be called "Willis Tower"

Confirmation

I, for one am going to continue to call it "Sears Tower." :)

My god, the country is in a serious recession, and somehow Bruce Willis has the money to buy a skyscraper, ridiculous!
:p

^ LOL that was my reaction when my dad told me. I was like "Bruce Willis bought the Sears Tower???"

Is Gary Coleman going to be there to see his TV brother get the honor of having a building named after him, and zing off the trademark catchphrase.

Heh..

Coleman was Arnold, not Willis. You're thinking Todd Bridges.

Would have been better if they went with Harry Carey or J.J. Adams (Good Times) Building.

Anywho, I'm still holding to not doing any business in that city until Meigs gets restored, or Daley is gone.

I thought I was wondering if Arnold was going to be there to see his brother Willis get a building named after him. Must be the lack of commas ....

Edit: I would have voted for the Ron Jeremy building myself, since the building is old and frumpy now, and a lot of the newer buildings are bigger.

I am also staying away from Chicago because of Meigs, but whenever the subject comes up with others in my company who are in Chicago, they spout Daley's line on how it wasn't needed and the city is better off without it. Of course resident's don't see the need for it... they aren't going to fly from their own neighborhood airport to Meigs. And they don't see how someone without a local car might want to land right in the city and not 8-25 miles away as the current three closest airports are.

In the past Daley wanted to close Midway, too. That's just what the city would have needed... even MORE traffic at O'Hare.

How Daley got Boeing to move their headquarters to the most unfriendly city to aviation in the US is a mystery to me.

I don't know anyone who thought the destruction of Meigs was a good thing. It was one of the scariest things I remember happening here. Daley needs to go.

As will I, If they ever change Wrigley's name im never going back home.

If they change that to Harry Carey Field, or Harry Carey/Wrigley field, that would be a good move.

But yes, Chicago's narcissistic king^H^H^H^Hmayor needs to go.

I wouldn't exactly call Wikipedia confirmation. Give me a link to a reliable news source and I'll believe it.

You've renewed my faith in the people of Chicago!

And I concur that Daley needs to go, but I don't get a vote :D
