So the SEC just issued a (temporary) ban on short-selling. Do any of you Armchair Economists predict that this might actually *benefit* or stabilize the stock price of AAPL?

I think the ban applies to short-selling of financial companies. I can't keep up with all the news lately, but I would stay away from the market for the next little while. The market is in the process of "de-leveraging". Big funds are forced to sell whatever they have because of liquidity problem.

Actually the new rules seem to hurt AAPL. By putting only financials off-limits, the short sellers are now focused on the electronics sector. Just look at the trends in AAPL and the SMH since Friday.
