Hi,

I just need a professional opinion.

I bought a second hand Macbook Pro 17" Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz 4GB RAM 160GB HDD, as a replacement for my White Macbook Core 2 Duo 2.0GHZ, for just $636. Is that good deal or am I cheated? I have used the Macbook Pro for 2 days now, nothing seems to be wrong, except for a small dent on the left front side corner, little bit unnoticeable, but everything works perfectly on Snow Leopard.

Beside I have sold my old Macbook White for $530 today, so I got some of the money back.

I am even planning to upgrade to 500GB HDD 7200 RBM.

Give me your opinion on the Macbook Pro deal, I know it's about 4 years old, but still it's a Macbook Pro and better than my old Macbook White.

Regards

You'd be better off to buy an SSD (OWC makes great drives) instead of the 7200RPM drive. If you have a need for storage, you could go for something like an OptiBay in addition to the SSD, if your budget permits. I promise you that the 500GB drive wont do you any favours in terms of long-term performance.

What is the screen size? If it is 1920x1200, then yes, great deal. If 1680x1050, still good.

I think its a fine machine. That's what my mother uses every day and loves. I would second jagger's opinion and put an SSD in the machine to help increase speed. Not a bad deal for only around $100 net. Enjoy. iFixIt has saome great guides to replacing the hard drive.

It is 1680x1050, and way much better than Macbook White.

I will consider SSD even though though it is little bit expensive for me.

Thank you all.

Thank you guys, I will consider SSD, if you got a good deal on that. Where I live that's not cheap, it's very expensive, take a look at the attachment, the price is very high for 120GB. I will try to order from ebay or amazon.
