This is probably a very basic question, but I want to use a second monitor (my digital t.v. which has all sorts of video [DVI] inputs) for my existing iMac in another room. The idea is to play our movies and slideshows on the big T.V. How would I make this happen? Is there a mini-DVI output already on the iMac that would go to a DVI input on my t.v.? What is the best way to do this?

There should be a mini-DVI on you iMac, which I'm guessing is a G5 or Newer Intel iMac. Buy the connector for the mini-DVI for your Mac from Apple's website. Don't forget to get a DVI cable to connect the Mac to the TV, pick this up at any electronics store like Best Buy. Then under the System Preferences, there is Displays, where you can setup the external monitor the way you want to set it up.

Also, don't forget cables that will take your sound over to your TV also. What I use is an audio headset jack to RCA connector, then a red and white RCA audio cable, to plug my audio into the TV.
