I'm confused by everything I've heard about the low performance of SSD's in the optical bays of 2011 MacBook Pro's (15 and 17 inches).
I understand there were two issues, one software and one hardware.
The software issue got sorted out with a Lion update - does anyone one know if this got sorted with Snow Leopard (which I want to use)?
Second, there is a hardware issue that make the drive still only obtain SATAII speeds. I'm ok with this apart from the fact that OWC says (in quite an old blog post) that you should only use a SATA II SSD in the port. This basically limits me to a 240Gig because that's the largest SATAII ssd I can find. I'd like to put a crucial M4 512gig drive in it. Anyone got an practical experience of this.
I've not bought the computer yet (I'm going to buy it either on the outlet store or second hand) so I could either buy an Feb version or a October version if either one of these are better.
