I read in a forum that a photographer (who had moved to an iPhone PRO) has the default camera app set to shoot JPEG and installed a second camera app (that he has set for either HEIF or RAW). As the iPhone 15 PRO that I just got is my first experience with Apple ProRAW, I thought this was a great suggestion until I decide what format I prefer (as the RAW files - especially using the ProRAW Max are extremely large IMHO).
Any suggestions on what photo app (not editing app) people here are using/prefer? I have ProCamera on my iPhone but curious on other suggestions.
Thanks.

Many are using Halid. I was thinking about downloading a third party camera app but there isn't a perfect one. So, I have decided to stick on to the native app.

Free versions don't give you all the options but you can get chance to be familiar with the UI. Choose something simple to use. Life is too short to spend a lot of time with a small sensor camera.

I actually didn’t like Halide much - signed up for a year but stopped using it quite quickly. The nicest secondary camera app I’ve found after testing about 15 of them is called Fjorden. I think it’s free, can’t remember paying and it doesn’t nag me to.

Very nice UI and quite feature rich. Give the film filters a try, you’ll get some lovely pics.

After experimenting with most of the camera apps on the App Store though, I’ve realised just how superb and deeply integrated the Apple Camera app actually is. None of the third party apps are as quick or have all the features to match.

I’d advise to keep the App Store camera apps as fun/secondary options for experimenting but use the Apple app for anything you want to get the best results for.

Procam is pretty good. Halide has a lot of good options but I never cared for the design.

If the native app let me manually set white balance, I would never need another app. It's really difficult to get a true-color photo.
