Secondary Timeline And Effects

I've created a picture in picture edit showing four different sequences. Each clip is a compound clip with the mosaic effect repeating at different time down each clip. Each clip starts with a fade to black so they appear at different time along the timeline, the problem is the effect on the secondary timelines affect all the clip below.

Anyone know how to prevent this please?
