Does the iphone have a way to add security to some contacts so that they can't be viewed on caller id when a call comes in or goes out to that person?

I really want an iphone, but some of the security features are holding me back.

By "security features" do you really mean 'cheating features'? ;)

to answer your question, no. The iPhone was clearly not developed in Italy.

There are so many people that get into my phone for other numbers and e-mails that there are a few a contacts that I'd rather keep to myself.

There is an app for that, I found it and off hand I don't know the name of it. It did what you were just asking for.

:confused::confused:
I am stumped.
What does Italy have to do with anything?

Just something I remembered reading once. This isn't actually the story I remember, but you get the idea: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3110144.stm ... As koobcamuk has already pointed out, apparently Italians are in need of advanced security on their phones. ;)

edit: found it! Vodafone Omnitel introduced a service called "Alter Ego" a few years back which allowed subscribers to have two numbers on one SIM. 'Private investigator Miriam Tomponzi said an in-house study by her detective agency found that that 87 percent of affairs in Italy are uncovered by mobile phones.' ... So, yeah. Whenever someone asks about ways to cover their tracks on the iPhone, I think about those cheating Italians and their advanced phone service. :)

To the OP,
IF your phone is jailbroken, look in Cydia for Lockdown or mAdvLock, These 2 apps will let you lock with a password individual applications. You could therefore lock your Contacts app (MobileAddressBook). I personally use mAdvLock.

That's really nice and all, but would it prevent names/numbers being displayed on incoming calls?

Are you kidding?! I would love to see some of that Italian cheating tech on the iPhone! ;)

Damn. I lost track of the OP's first post with all that Italian stuff in the thread. :p

I was really replying to his other post:

Ah, you're right. Seems the OP's need for secrecy is far-reaching. :)

Anyway, I'm sorry for bringing the Italians into this. That story I posted made me laugh and I just thought I'd share. :p

I was at work (on lunch) when I posted and I figured that I found one so the OP can look for it now that they know there is an app for it
So sue me
FYI it was Hide a Caller.. (and a pro app also) are you happy now that I posted then name (comment not to the OP)?? Just search under "hide contacts" in the App store.

Yes, the one I found did. It "masks" the name
