Secret Recording

I need to record something happening in my house but I don't have a video camera. I thought if I had my webcam do it, it would look less suspicious anyways. So I'd like to use photobooth (or some other free application) to do this. When i tried using the photobooth to do this, it stopped recording as soon as I hit "Hide Photobooth". Thanks for your help
