secure delete program for terminal

I have googled around for a terminal program that will securely delete my files from terminal. the only ones i have found for os x are the (included in os x) secure empty trash, stuffit deluxe, shredit, and pgp. none of these i can use from terminal. i tried compiling wipe-2.2.0 with no luck :(. any know have any free program that will work in terminal?
