secure digital disk ??

Hi,

I want to use a Secure Digital disk to to transfer data between my Mac and Pc. I copied some files to the SD disk this am and when I inserted it into the PC, I saw some extra files calles DS Store and a folder called Trashes??? Anyone know what that is all about?????
