Hi all.
When secure erasing an external plugged into a Mac mini, i get a "Secure erase Failed. Cannot create temporary file." error dialog.
Why does this happen ?
Searching, I haven't found really a definitive answer, only to try in Recovery mode. I would understand if this was an internal drive in-use, but in this case, the drive is not as it's external, and the mac is not using it except erasing it only.
my guess is the error comes up at the end when it attempts to create the temporary file,
Ownership is Read/Write..... of the drive, as it would need to be, otherwise it wouldn't be able to start easing in the first place. as well as "ignore ownership of this volume" is ticked.
I don't mind using recovery mode, to take another 2 hours, but i would want to see if i can get this working as well.
