I didn't see the feature in macOS Disk Utility to secure erase a hard drive. I ended up using the diskutil secure erase feature. I thought the macOS recover disk would recognize the drive and install it, but the partition has been removed.

Can someone point me in the direction how to reinstall macOS so I can sell my old laptop? I had a lot of sensitive data on it and wanted to wipe the SSD prior to selling it.
[doublepost=1499029813][/doublepost]Nevermind, the internet recovery tool (command+R) had the old school disk utility. I was able to create the Macintosh HD partition and then install Yosemite (old school I know).

So now the question is, should I eBay this with Yosemite or upgrade it to Sierra? :)
